Magnesium Fire Starting Tool
This fire tool consists of a block of solid magnesium and a full
length of Ferrocerium Rod set into one edge.  Because
magnesium is soft, the block can be scraped to form a small pile
of shavings.  When you striking the edge of the sparking insert it
ignite the shavings, the magnesium flares up at a temperature of
5400°F.  A short piece of hacksaw blade works best for shaving
the magnesium and for throwing huge amounts of sparks.
