| The coyote is the ultimate surviver and lives in every part of the US. They are very vocal and have a distinct language that you can learn if you study their howls, yips, whines , and barks. A fun way to see them is to take a predator call with you the next time you go to the woods. Find a comfortable spot, keep very still, and blow on the call for 30 seconds, every 2 minutes, and keep it up for 15 minutes. Keep your eyes open for movement. The call simulates the sound of a rabbit in distress and the coyote will come in looking for the free lunch. The coyote track closely resembles that of a dog or fox although the coyote tends to follow a straight path across open areas where the others will wander or follow aspects of the landscape. The print is a rough oval shape with four toes bearing claw prints. The larger front foot has a much larger pad than the smaller rear foot and if you look closely you will see that the outer toes are larger then the inside toes. |
