If you find your pets food dish empty in the mornings, your garbage cans turned
over, or your freshly laid sod pulled back and turned over you probably have these
masked bandits paying you a visit.  Raccoon are mostly scavengers and will eat just
about anything they find. They are a nocturnal animal rarely seen during the day.
Female raccoons will give birth to 3 to 5 kits in the spring and they will stay with her
through the first year of life.  A family of raccoons can be very vocal when together.
Bore Raccoons (male) are mostly solitary and can weigh up to 40 lb. Raccoon tracks
looks like a pair of small human hands. Each foot has five long toes with short,
curved claws. The raccoon's body is round.  It has short legs and flat feet that cause
it to waddle. The bottoms of raccoon feet are hairless. Look for tracks near the
waters edge where they will scavenge for food.
