| The Skagit River Delta is a great place to pack a lunch and spend the day. It transitions from forest... to grasslands...to tide flats...which, makes the landscape very interesting. A map is very handy to have due to its maze like channels. Be aware of the tides. When the tide is lower than 3 feet, some of the channels start to dry up. It takes about two hours after low tide before the current changes and starts flowing back up stream. Numerous birds call the Delta their home so don't forget the bird book and a pair of binoculars. I think this trip is great for the whole family or a place to just get lost for awhile. |
